Goal of the game

Score more points than the other team: first team to 501 points (or 301 / 1001) wins.

4S4F BELOTE rules

  1. 4 players in 2 teams: your partner sits across from you. 32 cards, from 7 to Ace.
  2. Everyone gets 5 cards and one card is turned up. In round 1 each player may take: its suit becomes trumps. If nobody does, in round 2 you may choose another suit. If nobody takes, redeal.
  3. Trump values: Jack 20, 9 14, Ace 11, 10 10, King 4, Queen 3. Other suits: Ace 11, 10 10, King 4, Queen 3, Jack 2.
  4. Play 8 tricks. You must follow suit. If you can't, you must trump unless your partner is winning. When trumping or following trumps, go higher if you can.
  5. Belote-rebelote: King and Queen of trumps in the same hand, both played, score 20.
  6. The last trick is worth 10 more. There are 162 points per deal.
  7. The team that took needs 82 points (belote included), otherwise it is 'dedans' and the others score 162. Winning all 8 tricks is a capot: 252.
  8. First team to the chosen total (501 by default) wins.

Tips

  • Take with the Jack and 9 of trumps: they are your master cards.
  • If your partner is winning the trick, give them your point cards (10, Ace).
